Damate Group put into operation the first feedlot for young sheep as art of the project for the production of mutton. The site is located in the village Achikulak of the Neftekum urban district of the Stavropol Territory and is designed for a one-time keeping of 14 thousand heads, a year - about 50 thousand.

Investments in the site amounted to 144 million rubles. Rosselkhozbank JSC acted as a financial partner. The launch of the new enterprise has created 50 additional jobs in the region.

Stavropol Territory Governor, Vladimir Vladimirov visited the new enterprise on June 4. During the working visit, he inspected production facilities, talked with the company's specialists, got acquainted with innovative technologies in the field of sheep breeding. V. Vladimirov highly appreciated the level of Damate production organization.

"The Stavropol region has historically high competencies in agricultural science, breeding, and great potential in animal husbandry. Today these opportunities are used for the implementation of a project that we are implementing in partnership with Damate. Creation of feedlots, improvement of breeding characteristics of livestock will help to make significant progress in the development of the region's export potential, to double the number of workers in the sheep-breeding industry in the future and create an additional growth stimulus for agricultural regions of the Stavropol Territory, " said Vladimir Vladimirov, Stavropol Territory Governor.

The new site with a total area of ​​27.5 hectares includes four sheepfolds complete with feed dispensers and an automated water supply system; a shed for sheep sorting and a shed for machinery and feed as well as a feed storehouse.

Damate brings sheep from farms of the North Caucasus Federal District. Upon arrival at the site, the animals are sorted, sheared and settled in the sheepfold for fattening. In the process of fattening, weight of animals increases up to 45-47 kg in 4 months. Then they are sorted and sent to the meat processing plant Damate.

"The new site is designed for stable keeping of animals, which offers a number of advantages over traditional grazing. Keeping in sheepfolds, coupled with complete feeding, allows for a shorter period of time to gain muscle mass and high quality meat," said Leonid Khanukaev, the Head of Sheep-breeding Department of Damate Group.

Damate Group opened a new business activity and began to implement a project for the production of mutton at the end of 2018. The project includes three activity areas: feeding, Service Company and mutton processing. As a result, the company will produce 12.6 thousand tons of products per year. Investments in the new activity amount to 2.68 billion rubles. These are the company's own funds and funds attracted from Rosselkhozbank JSC.
