Damate Group, a large agricultural holding, was among the first Russian agro-industrial complex companies to start developing Sustainable Growth Strategy. This is a long-term program with a list of specific measures that will be aimed at improving indicators in the social, economic and environmental spheres.

Sustainable development is an international current trend. Companies in Russia have also begun to follow this trend and in the near future their activity in this direction will only increase. Damate will become one of the few Russian agricultural holdings planning to launch a strategy modeled on the best Western companies.

In the coming months, the company's specialists, together with experts, will have to develop a whole set of new documents regulating Damate's approach to sustainable development, each of which defines points of growth and procedures for interaction with stakeholders within a specific subject area.

The strategy will be applied to Penza and Tyumen regions, where Damate is the market leader that develops turkey production and processing, dairy farming and milk processing.

The company expects will adopt the strategy and start implementing it by the end of 2020. It is planned that all the planned activities of the strategy will be implemented within three years.

Damate is confident that a systematic approach to sustainable development will make it possible to be more effective and comply with the best international practices. In addition, setting specific goals will help scale up existing economic, social and environmental initiatives and make these priorities an integral part of the daily activities of all divisions of the company.

“The current activities and self-leadership of Damate in the market naturally led us to the need for deeper work in the field of sustainable development. We strive to strengthen the position of the company in the field of corporate and social responsibility,” said Rashid Khairov, General Director and Co-founder of Damate Group.

In September 2015, the UN General Assembly adopted the 2030 Global Agenda for Sustainable Development. The UN program is dedicated to ending poverty, conserving the planet's resources and ensuring prosperity. Achieving these goals requires joint efforts of governments, civil society and business. Damate's strategy will be based on 17 UN Global Sustainable Development Goals, on which the company can make the most significant contribution.

To date, the company has conducted an internal audit. Its results showed that a large amount of work in this direction has already been carried out, and part of the tasks and goals are integrated into the current activities of Damate and correspond to the goals of the UN Sustainable Development Program.
