Damate Group, which is implementing a turkey meat production project in Rostov region, has reached 100% self-sufficiency in hatching eggs. The company plans to produce over 40 thousand tons of turkey meat in slaughter weight by the end of 2021. To date, the company's need for an incubation egg in Rostov region is about 5 million pieces.

Damate is the only turkey producer in Russia that creates its own parent flock on an industrial scale. To this end, Damate has fully completed the formation of a flock of breeding birds in the amount of 88 thousand heads. Now all the production sites of the pedigree breeding unit produce a high-quality incubation egg. Their total design capacity is about 10 million eggs per year. This volume is enough to cover the internal needs in hatching egg of the poultry complex in the region, as well as partially ensure the loading of the incubators of the turkey production complex in Penza region.

"Damate Company continues a systematic and phased transition to full self-sufficiency in hatching eggs. The formation of a parent turkey flock is one of the priority tasks, the results of which will become our key advantage in the future," said Rashid Khairov, Damate Group CEO. - The creation of a parent turkey flock in Rostov will allow us to significantly reduce the dependence of Damate poultry industry on the import of genetic material, reduce biological risks and increase egg quality indicators due to a shorter shelf life and by optimizing logistics. The egg is transported over very short distances, which reduces the number of losses during delivery, gives maximum hatchability of chicks."

"For more than a year now, Damate Group, according to agreements with the government of Rostov region, has been successfully restoring and expanding the production of turkey and duck meat –" said Viktor Goncharov, First Deputy Governor of the Rostov region. – For its part, the government of the Don region provides support – 192 million rubles are provided from the regional budget for subsidies for the purchase of hatching eggs and breeding young animals for organizations engaged in the cultivation of turkey and duck. Of course, our own parent flock will strengthen the company's position and become an excellent basis for its development."

The complete transition to self-sufficiency in hatching egg in Rostov was preceded by a lot of work. The company started the formation of the parent flock in September 2020, when the first batch of daily young was brought from the UK to the rearing site. Damate raised the parent flock at its own facilities and already at the end of April 2021, 18 thousand heads of breeding turkeys were transferred from the young flock plot to the laying hen plot. In accordance with the schedule, in May, specialists received the first incubation egg from a pedigree breeding unitand began regular bookmarks in their own hatchery for the purpose of subsequent hatching of day-old chicks for a commercial flock. In September 2021, Damate began construction of Russia's largest pedigree breeding unit of the second order with a capacity of 12 million eggs per year in Tyumen region.
