Damate took 45% of the Russian duck meat market share by the end of 2023
At the end of 2023, Damate has become the leader among duck producers in Russia. The company produced 18.6 thousand tons of products in live weight, which corresponds to 45% of the market share.
Damate Group topped the list of Russian duck producers. The company produced about 18.6 thousand tons of duck meat products in live weight (or 13.7 thousand tons in slaughter weight). According to the Poultry Farmers Union of Russia, based on available information from the constituent entities of the Russian Federation, Damate took a 45% share of the Russian duck market by the end of 2023.
This result was achieved thanks to the systematic implementation of a poultry farming project for duck production in Rostov region - New Duck Farms LLC (part of Damate Group). Damate formed its own parent flock in order to reduce import dependence on hatching eggs and maximize the reduction of biological risks.
The company continued to expand its sales geography and assortment. Today the plant produces more than 50 products. The assortment line includes both whole carcasses, large and small lump products, various products in spices and marinades, as well as by-products. Semi-finished duck meat products under the Ozerka brand can be purchased in retail chains and brand outlets across the country.
Damate has not only been producing duck meat for the Russian market, but also increasing volume of shipments abroad. The key target markets today are Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Liberia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Armenia.
Especially for Muslim consumers in foreign countries and Russia, Damate offers Salima branded duck products, which fully comply with halal requirements and have certificates from bodies accredited both in Russia and in the Gulf countries.
In October 2023, New Duck Farms was successfully certified against compliance with the strict requirements of Chinese veterinary and sanitary services and became the first in the country to receive the right to export duck meat and by-products to China. The first batches of products were shipped to China in January this year.
The holding’s plans for this year are to continue implementation of the project and ensure stable operation of the enterprise while maintaining the volume of duck meat production, as well as to significantly expand the range and volume of export supplies.
It should be recalled, that Damate took over the management of Russia's largest complex for industrial production of duck meat in 2020, restored its functionality in a short period of time and launched a full production cycle. Commissioning of the hatchery, parent stock site, commercial duck breeding farms, feed production shop, as well as the slaughtering and processing plant, made it possible to start nonstop production and its supply to federal and local networks. Over the last two years, the company has been gradually modernizing New Duck Farms and bringing all production facilities up to planned capacity.
