The first Turkey Festival was held in Penza
The first “Turkey Festival” organized by Damate Group, the regional government and the National Turkey Association took place in Penza and gathered more than 50 thousand guests.
The first “Turkey Festival” took place on June 12 in Penza. The event was organized by Damate and the Government of the Penza region with the support of the National Association of turkey producers. More than 50 thousand guests from all over the region attended the festival. The event became a bright demonstration of achievements of the turkey breeding industry. The venue was not chosen by chance. Today turkey production is firmly associated with the Penza region and has already become a business card of the region, because it is here that the bulk of Russian turkey meat is produced. It is planned that “Turkey Festival” will become an all-Russian event and will unite turkey producers and consumers from all over the country.
«Russia continues to increase turkey production, maintaining its leadership in terms of growth rates in the world. These dynamics have allowed Russian turkey farmers to consolidate Russia's status as the largest turkey producer in Europe and the second largest in the world. For the second year in a row Russia is ahead of the traditional European leaders of the industry - Germany, Poland, France, Spain and Italy - in terms of turkey production volumes - 422 thousand tons, ranking below USA only . Experts predict that by 2030 the industry will confidently reach the average annual production level of 600-650 thousand tons,» marked General Director of the group of companies Damate Andrey Sedov. «A significant contribution, more than half of the Russian volume, was made by the company Damate, which produced 237 thousand tons of turkey meat at the end of 2023.»
Today, Damate Group is a Russian industry leader. According to the results of 2023, Damate topped the rating of the largest Russian turkey producers for the sixth time. The company also tops the list of leading turkey producers in Europe and ranks fifth in terms of turkey production in the world. Russian turkey farmers have new opportunities for development due to constantly growing demand in both domestic and export markets.
Damate plans to expand production in Penza region up to 264 thousand tons per year through the construction of new poultry blocks. Damate signed a corresponding agreement with the Government of Penza region at SPIEF-2024.
Penza region is a leader of the turkey breeding industry, where the latest technologies are being tested and the largest projects are being implemented. It is here that Russia's largest turkey production complex is located, including hatcheries, feed mills, turkey breeding and fattening facilities, and two modern processing plants. The realization of such a large-scale and significant project for the country's economy would not have been possible without the comprehensive support of the regional authorities. All conditions have been created in the region in terms of investment attractiveness, and this approach has already yielded impressive results.
«Damate Group is one of the largest employers in our region. Nearly five and a half thousand people work at the enterprises of the turkey production complex,» said Governor Oleg Melnichenko, «Since the beginning of its activity, Damate has invested over 75 billion rubles in the region's economy, paid over 9 billion rubles in taxes, implements socially significant projects. We will continue our cooperation.»
A rich program was prepared for the guests of the event: creative master classes, children's and sports zones, contests, games and entertainment for the whole family, organized locations for photo shooting. A job fair was organized in a separate zone.
As part of “Turkey Festival”, the Russian Book of Records recorded a gastronomic record - the country's largest turkey barbecue weighing over 100 kg. After fixing the record, the chefs offered the guests to taste the record-breaking dish.
For the first time at the event, the trademark Indilight, part of Damate, presented its own food truck - a special van, where the most active participants of the festival were waiting for a special menu from the chef with dishes made of turkey. Moreover visitors could taste turkey dishes from the best cooks of the city at the food zone.
Popular creative groups of Penza performed at the festival, as well as special guests of the festival - Egor Creed, Alla Mikheeva and Klava Koka.
