Damate Group has started the second construction stage of the sheep fattening site for 50 thousand heads, located in Udarny village of the Karachay-Cherkessia Republic. The work on the largest feedlot in the North Caucasus Federal District will fully be completed by the end of 2023. The total investment in the project is 540 million rubles.

The construction of the site is being carried out within the framework of Damate’s project for the production and processing of mutton in the North Caucasus Federal District. To date, facilities for 14 thousand sheep have already been put into operation. The second stage includes the construction of 16 loafing sheds for small cattle, feed tables, a feed warehouse and a shed for equipment. In addition, an administrative and household building, biological safety facilities, and all necessary communications will be built. The launch of the facilities will allow Damate to reach the declared capacity of 50 thousand heads.

"Damate keeps implementing the large-scale mutton production project in the North Caucasus Federal District. Increasing the capacity of the site in Udarny village is another step that will allow us to bring sheep breeding in the region to a new level. Due to the opening of the second stage, we will be able to increase the volume of raw materials for our lamb processing plant in Cherkessk, and farmers will have more opportunities to sell lambs," said Leonid Hanukaev, the head of Lamb direction at Damate.

The fattening area in the Karachay-Cherkessia Republic is designed for loose sheep keeping on a year-round basis. Animals are supplied from partner farms of Damate Service Company. Lambs weighing from 28 kg are sheared, sorted and settled on loafing areas. Fattening takes 45-60 days depending on the initial weight. After all these steps, sheep are sent for processing to Damate mutton processing plant located in Cherkessk.

As a result of the project, 120 jobs will be created.

It should be recalled that Damate mutton production project in the North Caucasus Federal District includes the largest mutton processing plant in the Russian Federation, breeding fattening sites, a service company for working with farmers and a genetic direction.
